FSIOOverview.png

The Flex System Door and I/O module adds the ability to connect a Door to an original Flex 1 System hub. It may also be used with a Flex II Controller hub to add a door or another set of inputs and outputs. It offers these capabilities:

  • Control of electric strikes or mag locks that control access to Doors
  • Toggling of output devices such as LEDs and sounders to indicate the current status of a door or to toggle a device like a camera
  • Recognition and response to a momentary input like an RTE signal
  • Recognition and response to a continuous on-off input like a door sensor
  • Acceptance of input from Wiegand-compatible RFID readers
  • The ability to provide power to some or all of the above devices
The Door and I/O module consists of a 12-pin terminal strip with an 8P8C connector (RJ45) that provides an RS-485 protocol connection to the Flex System hub. Each terminal pin functions as follows:
1 Relay toggle for a normally open circuit to serve an electric strike
2 Common power supply for the electric strike or mag lock
3 Relay toggle for a normally closed circuit to serve a mag lock
4 An output line for an LED indicator or other device
5 An output line for a sounder or other device
6 A ground connection
7 Raw power output supplied directly from the Flex System hub (250ma maximum)- The voltage will match the input voltage of the power source for the hub.
8 A ground connection
9 An input line for a door sensor or other device or for the Wiegand CLK (DO) output
10 An input line for Request to Exit (RTE) or other device or for the Wiegand Dat (D1) output
11 Regulated 5 volt power output (140 ma maximum) for Wiegand-compatible reader or other device
12 A ground connection
