Programming Flex System Hubs from a USB Drive

Programming Flex System Hubs from a USB flash drive

This process requires the use of the USB flash drive packaged with the Flex System hub or an equivalent unencrypted USB drive. USBMemoryStick.jpg

Once the Flex System hub has been added to the system it may be programmed with a USB flash drive. The drive must be formatted as FAT or FAT32.

Programming the Flex II Controller
1 Insert the USB drive into the PC and click on the Generate USB Config link from the Flex System Hubs listing page.

2 Save the file to the USB drive's root folder. If the browser doesn't save it there, move the resulting flex2.tar.gz file to the USB drive after saving it.
3 Unmount or safely remove the USB drive.
4 Insert the USB drive into one of the Host USB ports on the Flex II Controller. Either Host USB port may be used.

  • The Flex II Controller hub will alternately flash its Status 1 and Status 2 LEDs.
  • When complete and successful, both Status LEDs will stay on until the USB drive is removed.
  • If there is an error, Status 1 and Status 2 will alternately flash Status 1 and Status 2 slowly.

When configured the Controller will attempt to connect to its server. A rapidly flashing Network LED indicates the hub is connected to a network. A solid Host Comm LED indicates the hub has successfully connected to the server. Flex System LED indicators are documented here.

Programming the Original Flex 1 Hub

Insert the USB drive into the PC and click on the Launch CyberLink link from the Flex System Hubs listing page.

Then follow the instructions for CyberLink 2 from the instructions below:

1 From the menu and select Settings. Ensure the correct server URL and account are shown in the dialog.

2 Select FlexHub USB Transfer from the menu.

3 Select the USB drive from the list of drives.

4 CyberLink will pull any available Flex Hub data files from the drive and upload them to CyberAudit-Web and then will download programming instructions for all Flex Hubs with change icons.

5 When CyberLink has completed, unmount and remove the USB drive.

With power applied to the Flex System hub, insert the USB flash drive. The USB LED on the hub will flash briefly. When the LED is steady on, remove the drive. The hub has now received its configuration and will attempt to connect to CyberAudit-Web as indicated by a flashing CAW LED. When connection has been established, the CAW LED remains steady on.
