Steps troubleshoot issues with a Cyberkey.

  • 0

Here are some steps to get started troubleshooting a key.

Step 1) Are the contacts clean, and tip secure? It is a good practice to clean the tip using the tiny wire brush included. Take a good 30 seconds to clean the 3 prongs. DO NOT use any cleaning agent or cleaning product. If you feel you need to use any liquid, Isopropyl Alcohol is approved to use with Cyberkeys and Cyberlocks.

Make sure the brass/metal tip is not loose. If the tip is loose, it suggests it has been used to open a door or being pulled in a lock while in the locked position. Try to refrain and ask other users to not pull the key while the key is in the locked position.

Step 2) Do we have enough power? Check for power indicators. For rechargeable keys, please dock the key in a USB Station, Vaildikey Station, Or Validikey Vault. For battery-powered keys, check light indictors. Make sure a battery is installed. If you can also check the battery voltage in the audit report or com log.

Step3) Does the key have access and is active? Check the key properties for behavior and if the key has access. Check the Expiration rules to see if the key expiration needs to be reset. If it is a particular lock ensure the lock has access and is within the schedule for access.
