To accommodate frequent use of its wifi radio, CyberKey Air and CyberKey Air2 have a 380mah lithium-ion rechargeable battery. This is over 50% more capacity than other models of CyberKeys with rechargeable batteries.

The normal expected use is to charge them daily. A key that checks in with CyberAudit-Web every five minutes and opens 50 locks will normally be able to operate at least 9 hours. Reducing the check-in frequency can enable more lock openings or increase the time between recharges.

A low or dead battery CyberKey Air will become fully charged within 3 hours in a charging station or within 5 hours in a USB Station.

Due to the relatively high power draw of the key's wireless radio, CyberKey Air and Air2 will disable wireless communications well before they stop opening locks.

CyberKey Air battery charge readings are not accurate when the key is in the charger. They will typically indicate a high voltage regardless of the real charge level of the battery.
