Temporary Activation and Delayed Activation features are available on systems with the Advanced Security Features SEM. Only CyberLocks that are assigned to the key holder in the Access Matrix may be used for either feature. Use the item chooser to designate the activation points for either feature from the list of available locks.
Temporary Activation
The Temporary Activation feature enables an administrator to designate one or more CyberLocks or
CyberPoints that can temporarily reactivate an
expired CyberKey.
Because Temporary Activation may be used to enable access to keys in an emergency, it also grants
access when the key's clock has stopped due to loss of power. However this is only possible if the
schedule used in the
Access Matrix
is not restricted by days, times, or expiration.
Generation 1 CyberKeys, CyberKey X, and
Generation 2 CyberKeys
behave differently with Temporary Activation.
Generation 1 CyberKey behavior
These Generation 1 CyberKeys support Temporary Activation.

- The activation times out after eight seconds (one LED flash), sixteen seconds (two LED flashes), or five minutes(35 LED flashes) depending on subsystem preferences.
- Each touch of an authorized lock restarts the timer count.
- Touching an unauthorized lock terminates the timer count.
Gen2 CyberKey behavior
These Generation 2 CyberKeys support Temporary Activation with a selectable time frame: | |||||||

When an expired gen2 CyberKey touches one of the designated locks, it extends its expiration for the selected amount of time. They will continue to open authorized locks until the timer expires or until the key is updated by CyberAudit-Web. Touching an unauthorized lock will not interrupt the timer.
Delayed Activation
The Delayed Activation feature enables an administrator to program and update a
Generation 2 CyberKey
from a communicator but
prevent it from opening locks until it touches a selected CyberLock or CyberPoint
at a later time. This can help ensure the CyberKey arrives at the desired location
before it can open any CyberLocks.
CyberKey Blue 2 and CyberKey Blue 3 CyberKeys may also be activated using the
Bluetooth® enabled communicator that programmed it. When both activation types
are checked, CyberKey Blue 2 and 3 will require both requirements to be met before
the key will open locks. Other Generation 2 CyberKeys will ignore the
setting to update from the mobile app.
Note that Delayed Activation does not extend the
expiration of the
CyberKey. A key with a one hour expiration rule will expire one hour after it is
programmed from the communicator regardless of when it is activated.
Neither Generation 1 CyberKeys nor CyberKey X
support Delayed Activation.
